Final post from Meghan

We did it!!!!!! Thank you all so very much for all your support and help.  I can't believe my mom and I ran/walked 250K in 50 days...I never thought I could do it.  Especially with all the the traveling..yikes!

But it's done!! I feel great and certainly want to keep up the running.  But most importantly we raised over $3,000 for Kristy! Unreal...thank you all so much!

Love,
Meghan

Final post from Marcy

Hi all,

We did it! We completed our 5k a day for 50 days on Saturday that included Meghan hitting the treadmill at the Ritz Carlton in Los Angeles on the last day (don't ask how many miles she did!) Meghan, Kristy and I can't thank you enough for your generosity and support while we achieved this exciting goal to raise money for Kristy's medical bills. Meghan and I are both in better shape and happy to be out there exercising. Hopefully we have it in us to continue to keep healthy and happy by regular exercise.

Love,

Marcy

64K to go.....

We're getting down to the finish line!! I can't believe its been 41 days! I can't believe we've done it! Granted I should be at 45K left...still making up from France...but do not worry.  I promise to complete those 64 kilometers before Sunday Nov 4th! Just in time to relax for the election :)

I'm headed to LA on Sunday so I'll be rounding the finish line there.  Wish I could finish with my mom but we'll celebrate over Thanksgiving.  I have to say this has been such an amazing experience.  First off how humbling this is. I'm not going to lie, it's been difficult.  And my body is certainly aching much more these days.  But still, this is nothing compared to the stress cancer treatments puts on ones body.  It really puts things in perspective.  For my friends and loved ones that have fought cancer, I am in awe of your strength and reslience.  Additionally, the amazing amount of support we've received has been overwhelming.  I'm so glad that we've been able to put a dent in Kristy's debt.  Thank you all so very much!

Marcy - Run Run Run

Hello everyone,

Run, run, run...or I should say ride/walk with the elliptical bike at the rec center. My knee is much better and, in fact, I might be able to start walking around the park again. Fall is beautiful in Colorado and I like to walk among the colorful trees with that cool crisp air and great smells of autumn. Kristy Penzone is working away at Hilton Intl. in online marketing and continuing her treatments and in this October month that honors breast cancer survivors, she's one of the many courageous women I know who keep a brave face as they deal with an awful disease.

You have another two weeks to contribute to our 5k a day for 50 days fund for Kristy. Please go to  http://www.giveforward.com/supportkristypenzone

When this ends on Nov. 3, I plan to continue my 5k's (just not every day!)

Love,

Marcy

Meghan Update

Bonjour! Hola! Hello!

Well I just got back from France for work with a nice little layover in Barcelona.  Not a bad place to work but I was SLAMMED!! Meetings from 9am-1am.  Suffice to say running was tough.  I definitely have a lot of catching up to do. The walk to and from the Palais was 1 mile.  Additionally I walked at least another mile every day going from other mtgs, back to town, back to apt...etc.

So to be safe (no shortcuts here!) I averaged a minimum of 1.5 miles a day.  So that's about 2.4K, meaning I have to make up the additional 2.6K from every day I was there.  I'm getting very scientific about this! No worries, I will make it up by November 3rd...the last day! I have to say I've really missed running and I'm excited to be back on track. Thank you all for your continued support!

Love,
Meghan

Marcy Update!

Hi to those following our blog,

50 days is a long time...haha. Walked my 5k yesterday but knee still a little iffy so have to go back to the elliptical bike. Kristy just got a job which we are so grateful for and Meghan and I have raised 68% of our goal so thank you to all who gave and others please consider putting in $10 to help us reach $4,000. http://www.giveforward.com/supportkristypenzone

Had my mammogram last week and came out normal - yay! Please make sure you get one every year.

Article on Kristy!!

Check this out! So amazing :)

Guest Post from Marcy :)

We are well into our 5kathon and feeling great. I had to substitute elliptical bike for walking and Meghan is walking home from work but we're getting our time in. Wasn't it cool to see the NFL football players in Monday night's game decked out in pink?!

This Sunday Denver is holding a Race for the Cure 5k so I'll be joining the thousands of men and women who are running and walking. Can't wait! It's for Kristy and those I love infected by breast cancer including my late mother Barbara Dockery, sisters Eileen and Liz, sister-in-law Linda and those that have died - my aunt Betty and friend Melanie Lee Rose, the first woman I knew with this disease.

Breast cancer has no warning and doesn't discriminate. Please wear pink and let others know you want more money and support for research and treatment so that many women do not go uncared for.

Thank you!

Love,

Marcy

Day 19 - A little bit tougher now...

Hello blogworld!! So honestly check, I am one day behind on my 5 Ks. I will make it up! Don't you worry!

I've been traveling a lot which has made it a bit more difficult.  Interestingly enough my work trip to LA was actually very doable. I found a great run around the hotel through Century City/Westwood.  It was a nice run with hills. Oh how i miss hills :)

San Diego was a bit harder.  While the view was unbelievably gorgeous the heat was not...and those who know me know I don't do well with heat..haha

So I'm catching up back in NYC before I leave for France on Saturday.  Thank you all so much for your support. It really keeps me going and I know it's doing the same for my mom and Kristy!

Running like crazy - Day 12

Ok, so travel and running is more difficult, but I'm doing it :)
It's been such an inspiring experience.  I'll admit it's not always easy but I'm driven by all the love and support from everyone.  My husband and I did a 10K together on Saturday so on Sunday I was able to take the day off.  Necessary since I was on a plane for 6 hrs. I'm planning on doing another 10K tonight to bank a day in case I need it while I'm in San Diego this weekend for Cullen and Jessie's wedding.

Also, full disclosure, I have a hair appt on Friday so I'll only be able to walk 5Ks, not run, for a few days so my hair doesn't curl...pathetic I know!! So that's why I want a few more Ks under my belt.  But no matter what it will still total 50 5Ks in 50 days. Even if I can only walk them for a few days.  Onward and upward!

Guest post from Marcy - Day 11

In our second week of the 5kathon and pumped up to be getting exercise while raising money for Kristy. Thank you so much for your contributions and a big shout out to our anonymous donor of $1,000! We're now over $2,000 with still time to give. The autumn weather is beautiful as the leaves change and it's so much better than the hot oven of a summer we had. Wish I could have a run with Meghan but we give each other moral support over the phone. Just returned from five days in nor Cal with friends and family and a return to my old favorite places...it is God's country, the Bay Area. If my knee gets stronger, plan to do some good hiking in the mountains of Colorado and looking forward to the ski season. Keep your support coming and thank you!

Rainy Run

Every thing's going great! Thank you all so much for your support. I'm actually really enjoying working out so much :) So day 4 of the 5Kathon was an experience.  It was sprinkling yesterday morning so I decided to run after work. Yeah, decided to storm like crazy.  But I did it! 5K in torrential downpour with lots of wind.  Puddles came up to my calves.  It was amazing! I had so much fun.  And I ran faster because of it. What an experience! I was completely motivated by Kristy.  I mean, running in the rain is nothing compared to what she's been through.

Guest Post - Marcy Day 5

Finished with day 5 of daily 5k and feeling great...out in the fresh early morning air. And here's some fantastic news....Kristy got a job! We are so excited that she is healthy enough to go back to work and we wish her well. Please show your support by visiting our website at http://www.giveforward.com/supportkristypenzone and contribute anything you can to help Kristy pay her medical bills. Thank you so much!

Guest post from Marcy: Day 2

Day two of our 5k a day for 50 days marathon for Kristy Penzone and her battle with breast cancer. So, do I walk for an hour without breaking a sweat like I did yesterday or use the elliptical at the rec center for 3.1 miles at 36 minutes and ruin my straightened hair like I did today? Whatever, love the exercise and the cause! Thank you for your support and remember - any contribution you can make is much appreciated - http://www.giveforward.com/supportkristypenzone.

1st day down! 49 to go

So today was day one and I'm feeling great! Granted I think adrenaline is a big part of that. I ran for about half and walked the rest. Not so bad. I'm so excited to keep this up :)
I have been reminded about a few things about running....specifically in NYC.
1. I am definitely out of shape. Oy
2. There are only two types of runners on the west side highway. There are those like me that are not in great shape but still look ok, not fat. And then people in phenomenal shape!! Like crazy good shape. There is no in between. This makes me think that one day I will wake up looking phenomenal.  I'm very much looking forward to that.
3.  So many people have personal trainers. I think that is a big factor in #2.
4.  I need new running shoes. Stat!

On to the next day!
